Last week I was in Philadelphia, PA for the Natural Product Expo, Expo East. While in town I ate at some delicious spots in Philly! One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to try new restaurants and scouting out places to eat in each place I visit that are local, organic, non-GMO, and use seasonal ingredients. While in Philly I got to try 3 EPIC restaurants.
Upon arriving in Philly, I went straight from the train to my first restaurant on the list, HipCityVeg. HipCityVeg is a fully plant-based fast food-inspired restaurant with fresh, often local, and organic ingredients! They have a wide menu to choose from including, burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries, salads, and plant-based milkshakes! We wanted to try it all, but we went for the chicken nuggets, portabella burgers, sweet potato fries, and delicious kale lemonade and turmeric tangerine “soda”. I love restaurants like this that allow us to still enjoy our favorite foods but in an upgraded way. You can find HipCityVeg in various areas around Philly and in Washington D.C. as well!
For dinner the first night we went to Talula’s Garden. Talula’s is driven by local ingredients prepared in harmony with the season, Talula’s Garden is a celebration of cooking. The menu rotates frequently so they are always offering new creations. I had the branzino and it was absolutely divine. So nourishing, uplifting, and delicious! A farm-to-table ethos inspires Talula’s unforgettable approach to dining. The indoor-outdoor space exudes a cozy, upbeat vibe, with attention to detail that extends from the gorgeous patio. Their lush plants and vegetation throughout are there to remind us all that the land is the source of all things wholesome and delicious. The lighting and esthetics were absolutely perfect to celebrate the first day of autumn!
The second and final night in Philly we ate at Bar Bombon. Bar Bombon is owned by the same woman who owns HipCityVeg. She is a boss babe who owns three total plant-based restaurants around Philadelphia! Bar Bombon is a plant-based Latin restaurant, they build on their Old San Juan roots, and bring new Latin flavors to Philadelphia. From midday to late-night, café to cocktails, cocina to corazón – all is veg-based and love-based. They are located on a popular corner in Philly with gorgeous outdoor seating too. They are a tapas-style restaurant so we got a few different dishes to try! The buffalo cauliflower tacos and yucca fries were amazing and so flavorful. We had the nachos and plantains too which were also divine. They are also a completely nut-free restaurant which is epic for people with nut-allergies because a lot of plant-based restaurants typically use nuts as a replacement.
If you are in Philly, I definitely recommend checking out all of these spots! They are delicious, and all have my Earth Diet stamp of approval.
